Exercise #5 - Racism, Classism, Slavery Today, Globalization and Human Right

57

Slaves Work For Me

We'd love to tell you which brands to buy from to reduce your Slavery Footprint. The truth is, we can’t yet. This issue is not a priority for business. That’s why Made In A Free World is building a revolutionary tool for companies to directly address slavery in their supply chains, along with a movement to partner with companies who are actively building a Free World. We need your help to build this movement.

What I intend to do is to explain for you about the last project I do it with my friends and,

it was about culture diversity. This theme was very interesting for us because It

discusses the important topic in our daily lives and, I will give you a small brief about

what did we fined. First gentlemen we are start to search and collect the information

about the culture diversity and, after that we went to the heritage village to made this

film. When we arrived there my friends and I we found in this place everything regards

the our culture in the past and how they live our ancestors and grandparents and also,

in the present this culture how it became like a source of pride for our grandchildren. We

started to take a pictures for everything old such as the old castle and old guns and old

ship. When we take around on the village we found many people from different

countries and foreigners and the village was so crowded about them. We start to talk to

them and asking them about country culture and their opinion. We found from what we

got from them is a amazing. Those people's they know a lot about our culture and they

respect it and also they love it. When we talk to them and we heard their answers we

felt proud and pride in our heritage. This experiment was so great because we met

many people's from outside my country they have knowledge about Our customs and

traditions and a lot of information about our culture. My friends and I we felt happily as

we found and learned. In my opinion I found this experiment is so useful for us.

Culture and Personality in Anthropology

Read the section about Culture and Personality in Anthropology. Answer these questions about that section:-

1.       Define “Anthropology” in your own words ..  The study of human history and culture

2.       What do you understand by “socialization of children” Give an example

where your culture tells you how you raise your children.

3.       Read this sentence again and give examples of childrearing in different societies and cultures: “socialization creates personality patterns. It helps shape people’s emotions, thoughts, behaviors, cultural values and norms to fit into and function as productive members in the surrounding human society. The study of culture and personality demonstrates that different socialization practices such as childrearing in different societies (cultures) result in different personality types.”

Consider “bed time” in different cultures; Some Emirati families do not have a set bed time for the children. In most Western cultures, children often do have a specific bed time

4.       Read this sentence again and say to what extent you agree: “all humans are the same when born, but childrearing in different societies causes deviations in behavior and personalities from each other.”  I totally agree with this statement

5.       Reflect on the reading above. Can you see a link between your culture and your personality? Think about that in relation to your own culture first, and then think about personality and culture in a different society. Reflect. Give examples.
